Hi all!
So, I've been writing here since 2018, when I was 18 years old. I vividly remember picking up a copy of Salems' Lot by Stephen King earlier that year, and upon finishing, I sat down and started writing my own tales. I was enthralled with the horror/ thriller genre and wrote a few short pieces that tried to capture some of the magic I'd experienced whilst reading, watching, and listening to works by some of the greats (Lovecraft, Poe, King, Hill, Eggers, Aster).
Fast forward a few years and I've now graduated from Queen's University in Ireland with a degree in Creative Writing, and I'm a Primary School Teacher. With that career in mind, it is tough to find the time to write as much as I want to. But I have been working on a short story collection for some time now, which I will self-publish on KDP (free on Kindle Unlimited) in the coming weeks.
It's titled 'In This Village' and is presented as a work of meta-fiction (drawing inspiration from Chizmar's Chasing the Boogeyman). It follows a journalist as he pieces together stories and interviews from inhabitants of a rural Irish village that, twenty years ago, experienced an influx of unexplained disappearances over a short period.
If it sounds like something you'd like, I run a creative writing Instagram page @alexander.writess, where you can follow updates.
Again, I want to thank this page and its users for giving me constant feedback throughout the past six years. And a special thanks to @celticman, who was the first to comment on my writing way back in 2018, and has been consistently leaving encouraging and constructive feedback since! Thank you, mate.
