Cosmological Constant
By Alice Evermore
- 1222 reads
the days will come and go
the clouds will evaporate
the atoms will split
and the birds will scatter
*
the trees will sigh
the continents will drift
the sun will sling the Earth through space
and the scorpion will cock its sting
*
the children will frolic
the bombs will dismember
the stars will tumble from our telescopes
and the shadows will dance
*
the words will hold on tight
the atmosphere will corkscrew
the heartbeats will measure our seconds
and the breeze will whisper release
*
the signals will fade
the particles will disentangle
the abyss will open out
and I,
will find the first moment of time
reflected in your eyes
