The Hungry Rabbit

This story should serve as a warning to those
Who call omnivore persons their number on foes.
Veggies and fruits are healthy, it’s true
But soon you’ll discover that they’re bad for you.
Our tale begins with a rabbit named Tim.
A meal of raw carrots would mollify him.
But this was the new age and those clean eating folks,
Would gorge themselves senseless on the treats he loved most.
“So what?” You might say, “There’s enough to go ‘round.”
But stocks soon deplete when the vegan’s abound.
They recruited new members, their ranks soon did swell,
Tim whispered bitterly, “I wish they’d all go to hell.”
You see Tim was in a pickle, he was in a big mess,
His family had grown since he’d met his wife Jess.
With new mouths to feed and their cupboards grown bare,
Tim needed food but could find it nowhere.
A thought came to him, a devious plot,
A sure-fire way to get what they’d got.
How many times had he heard it before?
“You are what you eat.” Still, he couldn’t be sure
Whether this phrase was fiction or fact,
His patience worn thin by the food he so lacked.
It didn’t take long for the mystery to start,
People snatched from their beds, not leaving a mark.
See the vegan’s grew weak from their lack of good beef,
Taking on the demeanor of a green cabbage leaf.
They were no match for Tim, ravenous and quick,
And when the family joined in, they were done in a tick.
So heed this warning, let the lesson be learned,
Don’t take the food from a poor rabbit heard
And eat it yourself in an attempt to be thin
Or you may find yourself supper for a rabbit named Tim.
