A cold October breeze

It's the early hours
just as the night is lightening for the day to come,
I can feel the cold breeze of an october evening
prickling at my ears,
And then you pull yourself closer
and suddenly I warm up from the inside out.
We've been here all night, just sat in the dark,
talking about life, and love.
You've told me secrets and dreams,
and sudden everything seems,
quiet, like it's just us.
This is the moment I knew it was real,
this feeling inside i'd forgot how to feel,
and all I can do is smile and gaze,
i've been holding in this feeling for days.
I thought i'd not feel this again,
i'm not sure i've felt this ever.
So alive, like my heart beat is a drum in my chest,
quite frankly this is the best
i've felt that I can recall,
and the truth is it's all
because of you.
You, someone so kind and lovely,
someone who has had to fight so much without a friend,
well now with me, you've got a hand to hold,
shoulders to cry on, arms to fold
around you. and i'm so glad i found you.
I just want you to know that this much is true,
I could spend all my time, laying next to you.
