Orange Cheese

Orange Cheese left on the table strewn,
Off a plate, stringy and tender
The little boy sat watching;
Ants crawling and lingering;
The air was musty and old;
Autistic darling savant staring still.
Red clock on the dining table ticking at the same;
Dust and cobwebs left untouched-
Paint peeling off walls and insipid ceilings
Fan creaking, dust flying and shadows.
Eyes wide open and half closed...
Clothes on his back tattered unwashed.
Macaroni three-days-old; glass of water full...
Sitting little dearie, immobile to all
Tap leaking, telling time for each drop; memories
Pots and a pan; iron skillet, steel spatula: stained.
Soundless; breathing almost still...lights flickering
The rusty pipe by the ventilation groaned...
In his own world now; holding hands...
The red clock on the table strikes twelve...
Where are mommy and daddy?
