THE WORD FROM PUNXSUTAWNEY PHIL
By Annette Bromley
- 1420 reads
Phil didn't see his shadow.
How could he with all this snow
on this February second,
with all this cold and blow
and not a speck of sunshine
to cast one shimmer or a glow;
of course that silly ground hog
did not see his shadow.
That old ground-hog just shivered
and declared it mighty cold
but then tried to reassure us
that in six weeks or so
all this cold and snow will go away
and the green grass will grow,
and flowers again will blossom
and the sun will warmly glow.
He didn't stay outside long
since there was no shadow,
not Punxsutawney Phil,
he crawled back in his hole
to sleep away the rest of winter
and stay safe out of this snow;
but still, Phil gave his promise
we'd see spring before too long
and Punxsutawney Phil
is never, ever wrong.
