Do Not Pass Me

Do Not Pass Me
I have liked old cars for most of my adult life, I have
had one old beautiful car stashed away in my garage for the last few years. I'm in my late forties and have always enjoyed restoring old cars.
I’m sitting here watching old reruns of the Gunsmoke series on T.V. I decided to take a short break from that dam television and worked my way over to the bathroom.
I’m standing over the toilet bowl, holding my little friend.
I started thinking, why don't I start doing something with that old car I have stored in the garage.
A few days later I made a phone call to a friend of mine that works in a transmission repair shop.
The car I have stored needs the transmission
repaired which would most likely run around $600
dollars to repair. I told my friend at the transmission shop to check it out and let me know what it would cost.
Later in the afternoon he called and said it would cost around $500.00 and about a day to fix it.
I told him let’s go for it, I want to get this done. The following day he called and said your
Volkswagen is done. I was so happy to hear that it was finished.
I jumped in my little old Ford pickup truck and
raced down to the transmission shop.I paid him and thanked him so much for fixing it.
I told him you know what? I have a problem.
I came down here in my truck, how in the heck am I
going to get my 72 Volkswagen back home?
He said, you know what I have a new girl that's
been working here for about four days,
I think if I'm not too far off, she lives a few blocks or so from you.
She could drive your Volkswagen and follow you
home.
I said wow that would be neat. She came out and we talked for a few minutes.
She was real nice. We shook hands and she said
her name was Nan.
I gave her my address and
said Nan be sure to follow close behind my truck,
what ever you do, don’t pass me,
she said” okey-dokey.
We both pulled out of the lot and started down the
street. A block away she started trying to pass me. I sped up to 35 mi. an hour. She started to pull up along side of me once again, I proceeded to speed up to 45 mi. per hour.
I feel that she's going to wreck that dam transmission now we are getting up to 55.
I could see her in my side view mirror reaching over to the window on the passengers side rolling it down as she pulled alongside me and yelled at the top of her voice, how and the hell do you
get this out of first gear..........
