Eheu!*

Eheu!
I am so terrible at Latin
so forgetful when it comes to learning
sodding
vocabulary.
350 words- that's one word per day
for almost a year
And I haven't got that much time
until my GCSE
So many fights (pugnae)
against my own mind,
resistant to memorisation
- if that's even a word -
by chance (forte) perhaps I will remember
something?
I wish I recognised all this
language
It's stewing in my head (caput)
but refuses to surface at all
I have to work in order to (laborare ut) do well at all
one day I hope I shall get a reward (praemium)
but all the same I want to know
why did I take Latin in the first place?
