Lament of a slaughterman

ALL I HAVE TAKEN
All I have taken from the mothers of the Earth
graced your tables and filled your girth's
I have boiled their souls in a caldron of sorrow
this evil brew will feed tomorrow.
From the spring lamb
and Mothers to be
all I have taken that's me.
Bled and trussed
washed and packed
chilled and wrapped
boxed and stacked.
All I have seen from beyond those eyes
I have looked from them, from their side.
I have seen the faces of the feeding men
and they don't understand the feeding killing hand.
Shackled and hung
one by one
down in to the water
to the stun.
Some of us are sleeping but most are not
to the spinning blade to make the final cut
but even that is not the end
the last man in the line should be making sure
all the blood is on the floor
he does his best to be humane
I'm looking through your eye's
I know your pain
