Adrenaline raced,
screamed through each highway of blood
until it slammed into her heart
pierced her very soul
as she watched unwillingly
the tableau before her.
They stood so close-
So close that
she could not tell
where the woman began
and the man ended.
Her world tilted,
fragmented, shattered
into a zillion pieces of nonsense.
The sob rose from deep within
accompanied by Englebert Humperdink
announcing melodiously that
the last waltz
had begun…

Excellent this, dear Val, with marvellously strong beginning that drawers the reader straight in.
These lines really did it for me though:-
"So close that
she could not tell
where the woman began
and the man ended."
Made me shiver, actually.
