Nothing

Nothing can exist in this world
Where winter covers everything like leaves
And hedgerows creep past deserted signposts
Looking back
Wishing I'd taken that road
If you had the duplicate
Of the key I hold
You too could see through that frosted-over door
Warmth dares not enter
I struggle to shut it out
Make the bolts tighter
Nothing can exist in such a wasteland of forgotten memories
But one other has the key
And he is nowhere near the door
Only he can bring life into a silent room
Read books on the dusty shelves
Reading through my soul
Nothing can exist in me
Only heartache
