Ode to a Stop Sign
It's hard to admit how much I need you,
Because I really hate you.
I hate your shape,
I hate your color,
I hate the price I have to pay for violating your trust.
You hold me back for living life to its fastest.
This is a free country yet you limit that freedom
In a way that few can describe yet everyone understands.
It's not that you're bad all of the time.
No, most of the time I appreciate you and
The protection you provide.
But sometimes
I wish you could just fuck off.
I'm the first to admit it,
Sometimes you're a blessing.
Especially when I'm in a strange place,
Like on Sunset or by Venice Beach.
Some places are stranger than others.
I appreciate you then.
You're a calming influence.
But when it's two in the morning,
I'm five minutes from home,
And there's no one around,
I don't need you.
Can't you just Yield to me for once.
