Rat

Rat

Stepping into the light at Moorgate,
I was horrified to discover,
a rat, dead amongst the detritus,
lying in the gutter.

I launched it bin-bound, by the tail,
with a swing full of deft,
and wondered as it flew,
which sinking ship the rat had left.

There really was a dead rat outside Moorgate St.... and there are
several sinking ships in the city (I'm currently paddling like crazy in
one of them!).
