Scenes From The Saxmundham Tandoori by Neil McCall
Citizens of Suffolk, make way for Queen Laxmi,
splendidly arrayed in her caravan,
bangles sparkling on well-plumped forearms,
navel bravely bared against the North Sea fret.
Her peacock freaks the marshland waders.
The camel drivers lounge in dingy Leiston pubs,
moustaches bristling with beer froth
whilst her maidens perform their intricate dance
in the shadow of Sizewell reactor
its dome glowing in the moonlight
like a squalid Taj Mahal.
