Leaving Home
Time to go, time to grow.
Time to spread your wings.
The nest thatcradled you
Must be left for otherthings.
The chick we loved and nurtured
Has an adult plumage fine.
we Stand and watch you preen
We realise now's your time.
In your heart is a bond
That forever links you to your home.
Loving ties are not restricting chains.
So spread those wings, for you are fully grown.
No hesitating, backward glance.
Stare straight ahead and fly.
For if you should turn
I'm afraid you'll see me cry.
