Silence Is Golden?

I was thinking about Elie Wiesel's words :
“... to remain silent and indifferent is the greatest sin of all!”
I’m not sure he’s right that it’s the greatest sin...
but it is certainly ‘up there’.
I’m also not sure that the problem is so much indifference nowadays (although there is a frightening amount of that)
so much as simple cynicism.
A friend of mine once said that -
“Cynicism is the last refuge of the disillusioned.”
Beneath all the hype of the West’s constant hurrahs for Democracy
do those we vote for ever actually listen once they’re in power?
Do we REALLY believe we can make any difference what ever we do?
I don’t know but I feel that we should NOT remain silent and let them do as they wish without, at least, raising our voices and saying
“Why are you doing this?”
Of course they will never have a referendum on anything important,
in case they lose…
but we should not remain silent because:
A whisper can become a shout and a shout can become a ROAR!
