Three-Chord Reply
I'm through with all your lovelorn angst,
your 'if you leave me now&;#8230;' lies. If I leave
your heart will not stop, you will not die.
I am not the length of you, nor the breadth
of you, I never was the depth of you.
I'm not your end, was not your start,
I don't want to be the biggest part
of you. Look, get this into your pretty head,
there's someone else that thrills my blood,
she said. I don't lie, was my three-chord reply.
This poem ends with the sigh of a closing door
and the heartbeat of footsteps slowly fading,
fading,
fading,
. .
. .
. .
