The Trophy and the Porcelain Doll
Clayton J Elliott
You hold up your lack of convictions
as though it were some hard won trophy
and you yell,
"God is dead."
and sing,
"Man is god"
and laugh,
"We are alone.
Alone."
I cling to my faith
like a fragile porcelain doll
but I cry
and I cry,
"Is God dead?"
and murmur
and lament
"Is man God?"
and we sob,
"We're alone?,
alone?
We're alone?"
