Until the End

Brown leaves glisten
And skitter in the breeze
As the hands move slowly
And cobwebs descend
Scribbling crude messages
On my face
A time
When there was no time
A place
Where we did not exist
A God
Who knew nothing of the world
And a heart
That did not beat
Snowflakes now
With frost that bites
And snaps
While you leave green footprints
In the garden
Life is sleeping
Waiting
As ever it does
Until the end of eternity
And you
Do you sit and wonder
What will become of you?
Do you crave justice
And security?
Do you argue with your very spirit
And tell yourself that
Yes, you do exist?
Do we live in a dream
Of golden sunshine
And floating rainbow bubbles?
And all the pretty people
Who dream with us are there to
See you through.
