Vampiric Benevolence by Neil McCall
I used to spend my nights alone,
evanescent fantasy
keeping me cold company.
Then you came, unbidden,
in the witching hour
and overshadowed me.
I feared I was terminal
yet you took only trickles
and gave such sweet infection.
So I offered my warm flesh
for your delectation;
I am a table spread.
By sunrise you are gone
but, by your godless grace,
I am lighter in vein and spirit.
I still spend my days alone
but now I am working on that one.
