Violence

Violence
Not long ago, one country went to sleep
Having done what it thought was right
Its people had wisely voted
Voted for the right leaders, and right reasons
Is voting really a curse?
The following day, all woke up
Not to the right environment
The neighbor next door was screaming
Neighbor had turned against neighbor
Brother against brother
Violence stared, everybody in the eye
Where did they go wrong?
All manner of crude weapons
Came into use, Machetes, Bows and arrows
One person’s house had been torched
Another’s car had been set ablaze
Many people slept in the cold, no food, no water, no clothing
Whom could they turn to?
Everyone blamed the other; you should have done this,
No you should have done the other, they all said.
No answer seemed to be handy, so violence grew to great heights
Everybody in the country suffered
Violence is destructive
Let us join hands, to build the Nation, leaders said
Yes, we belong to the same family; we are of one Father, God
Let us help one another, may God bless us all
As we complement each, Let us stop violence
All answers lie in our abilities to think
