All Four Wheels On The Tarmac

Life sometimes seems like standing at the curb
watching moments in time flash by like Ford Mondeos.
They appear on the horizon and before you know it
are hammering by and into the distance,
disappearing round the curve of road.

On reflection it's the other way round
and I'm the car, where I stood: a milestone.
I pump the brakes to slow things down a little
But the cable's not connected and I'm past in a flash
struggling to keep the car on the road, all four wheels on the
tarmac.
