Welcome Here

Arms entreating, fingers crossed
for only losers love the lost,
words of wisdom cut like wire;
I'm just a child of my desire.
Candle wax runs down the line
dividing mortal and divine;
take my jacket, take my fear,
I hope that I am welcome here.
Nothing ventured, nothing lost
in tongues or thongs at Pentecost;
crank ecstacy an octave higher
and volunteer me for the choir.
Lead the blind and bleed the lines
of saints and serpents intertwined;
take my offering, take my ear,
I feel that I am welcome here.
Count your blessings, count the cost
of feelings sealed in permafrost;
stretch your limbs, embrace the spire
resplendent with St. Elmo's fire.
Spill the beans and spill the wine,
become my scarlet valentine;
take my incense, take my tears,
I know that I am welcome here.
