After the Rains

Rain lashed up like sea
attacking blackened rooftops - anger
heading out directly left
across our misted windows,
while high-up buzzards circled
in the weight of grey. Why, we asked,
why hesitate above us as you do
on such a dismal day as here today?
But buzzards hover while we wonder
why without an answer. Come the calm,
we'll gather thoughts and look for Stardust
in amongst the puddles,
where we'll dance - bedraggled crows
in tattered mackintosh and wellies, and laugh
like loons collecting tunes
and precious random treasures -
snails and stones that catch a gleam
from recent flash down-pouring - and rapt,
we'll watch until the colours dull
before our eyes post storming.

Have you been having some of
Have you been having some of this weather? This smacks of our child-like delight in splashing in puddles and noticing things more colourful when the gleams of sunlight come contrasting with the still dark clouds around. (like the beach pebbles that look better when returned to water!). Rhiannon

HI Bee
HI Bee
I like weather related poetry. As kids we always used to get up at night if there was a good storm to watch it, and really marvel in all the energy in the rain or hail or wind or lightning. But the calm after the storm is quiet delightful too.

Hi Bee,
Hi Bee,
rain can leave such a freshness to the atmosphere, the colours of the wet green grass and the reflections in puddles that make up your wonderful poem.
I really enjoyed reading.
Jenny.
