To No One

I took out my silver flute
and played to the sound of the waves
rolling out over the sandy stones
and dragged back again like slaves.
As the tide came billowing in,
the moon threw light on the sea,
and no one, not even anyone
stood there as lonely as me
playing my silver flute
which rang sobbing notes through the air
with the musical voice of emotion,
to no one, for no one was there.
Only the moon seemed to want me,
so I played till my heart was at ease,
and the stream of my tears cooled and dried in the breeze
as the sea gently whispered and seethed.

Hi Bee
Hi Bee
Flute music is so mellow and fits perfectly into your backdrop. I feel sorry for the flautist, but you paint a lovely picture none the less.

Such a delicate and wistful
Such a delicate and wistful poem, Bee, nicely crafted. The backdrop of the moon and the lament of the music highlighting the unhappiness and loneliness.

One of the most lovely poems I have ever read, Bee. More than deserving of its cherries. Simply beautiful.
