I really should have gone this time
But how was I to know
I followed the instructions
And they told me not to go
I waited for the timing
Let the ticks fall into place
I planned the first thing in my life
To raise me to good grace
But I may have carried X
When I should have dropped the Y
The answers in the textbook
Said it should all add up to Pi
It seems Im crunching numbers
When I should be crunching sand
Im discovering old formulas
While you discover a new land
I know they say the money
May just be its own reward
But I have no intention of being
On the panel or the board
And you know that life motto
‘do it now before you die’
I feel I have corrupted that
For this paper, for this lie
So I didn’t get this answer right
Because I computed with my head
I should have found my heart and asked it
What to do instead
But I will fumble down this path
And watch ambitions drown
So I may hold this symbol high
My soggy paper crown
