All I Want From You
By
Matt McGuire
All I want from you is to
Slap my face again then kiss
Me deeply river of passion rolling
Over rocks
The sandy blue tide
Endless nothing the open
Door of your heart bleeding for
My every touch
All I want from you is
To stop selling yourself for free
Come to bed with the man
Of your dreams dance with the
Devil on long sultry nights
Autumn of our lives leave the light
On and don’t look at me with those
Eyes sea green and golden.
All I want from you is to be
A mother to our two girls
The Spring when the flowers are new
Feathery clouds dot the sky
Silvery gray-red dawnscape
Sunrises beckon us
Renew the vows cast aside like winter’s cold
Embraces dark and deathlike.
All I want from you is to
Turn around and tell me you never
Loved me lie to me please stop
Crying like a little girl lost in the rain
With no home to go to the
Look of lost innocence engraved
In your eyes red with tears
Pathos that would move
Any sinner to salvation
Save the world if only
You hadn’t lied
If only our love hadn’t
Died.
All I want from you is to
Take that knife away from your
Heart
Place it upon my
Breast let go just
Go ahead give me
Some death to go with my emptiness
Isolation
I can’t live
This way anymore the man
Of your dreams is in the driveway
Waiting to take you away from
Here to a land where marriages last
Forever
Little girls love their mommies
Always go ahead and do it
Cause when you walk out that
Door I won’t exist anymore
Your sea green and golden
Blood-red gaze will never haunt
This house where the ghosts of
Yesterday and the lost laughing
Of your unwanted children
Will die like the setting sun
Over the ocean blue with a thousand
Tears and deep as our
Love used to
Be.
