Richard Dawkins in the curry house (Oxford)

Coming in from the rain 

to collect my order 

I am greeted by

a vision in the corner

Richard Dawkins - scourge of God 

sits with his family enjoying his dinner 

He looks content, it seems

he is enjoying a brief respite 

from his anger

And I’m tempted to go across and ask:

“Richard, Richard, why are you so angry anyway?”

This is England

even the vicars aren’t religious 

It’s mostly pensioners who want

to have a cup of tea with friends

and help out at the soup kitchen 

They’re not very interested in God 

and contemplate the afterlife phlegmatically

It’s you who keeps bringing God into this

I do not give in to this temptation
