Only two pairs of feet on the stairs now.
One nose in my face as I sleep.
How much she is missed only I know.
Such pain in my heart as I weep.
My tomcat walks alone now.
His partner in crime is gone.
The ghost of a kitten sits by him,
but I’m sure he feels all alone.
Her pretty face still haunts me,
and her velvet soft tabby fur.
Her life is over too early.
No cat can ever compare.
Four pairs of feet on the stairs now.
Two heads in my face as I weep.
But two pairs of feet are a shadow
inside my head as I sleep.

I enjoyed this. Have you read Rudyard Kipling's poem - Four Feet - about a man mourning the death of his dog.
