Here's how to find me: stop looking
and start listening to your nose.
I am wrapped up in the smells
of every choice you make in the supermarket.
The floor cleaner you gravitate towards
will always be me spread across the floor.
The shampoo, shower gel and facial scrub
are buds waiting to burst
in your nasal aqueduct. Exhale
the artificial jasmine, the perfumes
maced upon you in department stores. Embrace
not only the natural (grass, bread)
but also the chemical not designed
for pleasure. Leather polish,
dry ice, de-icer. Cells of me
in memory are snapped
beneath each pop cap cover.
