Mrs Worthington
I'm not exactly putting my daughter on the stage
or being a Tiger Mother
I don't make her practice for hours
or complain if she doesn't ace a test
I haven't got a fox fur
of do the things I didn't
ambition
But it still is like that trip to the zoo
She went round it like a greyhound
sighting the hare
Every next thing was going to be
even better
If we had had a lead
it would have been at full stretch
like a piece of steel ready to snap
and we would have been
bent backwards arms outstretched
running like cartoons
I've still got go faster stripes
but when she hoovers up
prizes and plaudits
for music, and sport
and a straight A report
I do feel
I have earned my Guiding badge
for Mothering
and keeping up
