The Roman Baths
The torches were lit in Aquae Sulis
Minerva out stared a lambent moon
scampering shadows and chattering shades
muttered softly see you soon
a bland faced effigy of Aggripina
Lares thrown to Sulis' Spring
a bow window shone out from the Pump Room
and Abbey choirs began to sing
I wanted to share the layers of history
the perfect night and painted view
columns soaked in ancient mystery
wished I could just turn to you
