Rainbows in the wind.

I see them,
Like rainbows in the wind,
Playing in the open fields of some distant childhood,
Do they know how precious their world is, how quickly it fades to
shadows of some forgotten day or year.
They laugh and it's like bells in springtime,
So gentle on my ears that I smile a once forgotten smile.
Lost are my memories of being a rainbow in the wind, Spinning faster
than the world around me until I fall softly into the grass with my own
laughter in my ears.
I wish I could recapture them all, and keep them safe in jar on the
shelf of my mind, easy to find and to remember whenever I chose.
I see them,
Like rainbows in the wind,
And I am saddened by the loss of it all.
