THE YORKSHIRE PUDDING (IP)

Always I used to try
and get it to rise
beat and beat the eggs
with a fork in those times
Could look like a sponge
time was up come out flat
maybe had forgotten
gone black
So I would put mixture
into cake tins
they would blow up
like angels wings
When the air hit them
yorkshire puds
were deflated
truly I wasn't elated
Belated Pop!
home from the Navy
always go along
to the local pub
Down a pint
and a chaser
have his food
a bit tipsy later
Fairy tales come true
if we had yorkshire pud
with stew
pop come in and wash his hands
We would have all helped
popped the peas by hand
cut then washed the curly kale
with little grubs home grown
Family of eight we all sat down
ate everything we could find
yorkshire pud roast lamb and mint sauce
rich gravy and flavours added in a pan
Any Yorkshire left over
eight of us squabble
who! has the rest
spreaded with jam
Pop! would make his 'Aircraft models
one brother in the Navy to
was on the H.M.S 'Ark Royal'
shame rusting in Portsmouth Dock
Going o be melted down
into pans and pots
all the Navy men that been and gone
so sad! so sad! But still have a photo
I bet they all sat
down too Yorkshire pud
then and shared
a beer made many friends
I still love make Yorkshire pudding today
use an electric mixer hooray!
make it to my delight
poor pops not alive to try
all comments please!
maybe stanzas re-lining need
Do I post this somewhere how
as (IP) just one of try! Quickly.
is it.
