Thank you for the frost ferns
Upon my window pane
Thank you for the moon-dust
To steal my sleep again
Thank you for the night sounds
That stay with me til day
The owl's cry and the fox's bark
Will chase my dreams away
Thank you for the bright stars
That shake the midnight sky
And thank you for the angels
That watch me when I cry
Thank you for the sunrise
That marshals all my fears
Back between the folds of night
And dries up all my tears
Thank you for the lifetime
That's left for me to try
To chase away the phantoms
That danced before my eye
Whenever I lay down to sleep
Upon my childhood bed
And longed for someone soft and warm
To soothe away my dread.
