16) New Face
After Luden Lodo, Plo Voom, and all his corps. were first in prisoned, and then put into Space Sleep and the slaughterhouse had been dismantled, and all the jiks were reloaded onto the Hool, Captain Sobyan, invited Miniator and Swing, to come onboard his ship for a farewell dinner. They were greeted in the large reception hall and were given, along with Narea Dorr, a standing ovation by the crew and team members. Captain Sobyan gave a speech in praise of Miniator, Swing, and Narea Dorr, whom he referred to as 'The Three Heroes'. Swing visually shed a tear.
The Captain stated that Luden Lodo and his band will go before a Tribunal. And if found guilty will be sent to a colony to live, with no means of escape.
Later, The Three Heroes, Captain Sobyan, and Trid Das, the Hools Number Two, gathered in the Captain's quarters, for a more comfortable and informal discussion. The Captain wanted to know more of how the Koosians had been so quickly brought down, while he and Trid Das had been imprisoned in their quarters.
Nearea told how she had met Swing and Miniator, after she had escaped, and how they were also as keen as she to stop the Koosians in their mischief... So first, they gathered together to devise a strategy. It was decided that they didn't want to scare the Koosians into taking-off with the ship. so it was crucial that that Luden Lodo, would not become aware of any outside elements working against them.
First, Narea stealthy entered the base at night, and left messages meant to reach Trid Das, about obtaining the Hools computer code. These messages she left in the engines of several of the jiks, which she first damaged, knowing that the Mearian engineers would find them, rather than the Koosians, who knew nothing of the design of the machines. The next night she returned to find one of the engineers had indeed managed to get the code from Trid Das, and had left it hidden in pre-stipulated repaired engines. Once they had the code, the computer onboard the Dino, set to work trying to hack into the Hool's system.
'This was no easy feat, and took several days,' added Miniator. 'The computer had first to break the new personal encrypted password Luden Lodo had installed, before being able to enter the main code and protocols. Luckily, the Koosians had not changed the main code.'
It was only then, they had started their acts of sabotage, in order to harass and stop the Koosian aims, and keep them busy until the Dino's computer could complete its task.
As soon as that was done, the rest was easy, they took command of the computer, then unlocked the robots... putting them into Emergency Mode, with the instructions to first free all the ship's company, then arrest all non-personal. This was soon done, which enabled Narea, to safely enter the Hool, and retake the bridge.
'Well, that was very fine work,' said Captain Sobyan! We onboard had felt so frustrated and dispirited, until we heard of your escape, Narea. And I thank you, Miniator and Swing, once again for your altruistic participation in saving the the Hool and its company from who knows what monstrous fate. As I stated earlier in my speach, after returning to Gree to deliver the Jiks, we will return to Mearian, there I shall give a full report to the Mearian Confederation on each one of your outstanding actions, which I feel sure the Confederation will also wish to commend to the Intergalactic Federation, who will also wish to thank Toolia indirectly, and Miniator directly for the assistance in this outstanding successful solution to this difficult affair. And if there is anything I can do for you before the Hool departs tomorrow you only have to ask.'
'I thank you Captain,' said Miniator, 'on behalf of myself, and I'm sure for Swing, also, for all what you have said. And Toolia is always there to assist its friends in need, which is the true spirit of the Federation... But as to your kind offer of assistance, there is one thing I would like you to consider... Earlier Narea had approached me to inquire whether it would be possible for her to join the crew of the Dino, to take part in our future expeditions...'
'Yes, Captain Sobyan,' added Narea, 'You know I came on the mission to Gree as a volunteer, and therefore made a commitment to that mission, but since meeting Miniator and Swing, I feel that I, along with my robot Nimi, could repay them by offering our service. Miniator has agreed to this, and would be happy to include me, but he also offered, on his return to Toolia, to take me with him as a guest and an ambassador of Mearian.
'You know, Captain, how highly all things Toolian are respected on Mearian. I feel sure my stay there would benefit Mearian. And it would also fulfil one of my own life's ambitions. I would like your consent in this matter.'
'Well, as you say, Narea, you were a volunteer and you have done so much to rescue this mission, although, I will miss the opportunity to be the one to return you to the glory you will receive on your return. But I cannot deny your wishes, and I give you my blessing! And only add, that Miniator will take good care of you.
'Thank you Captain,' smiled Narea.
'Yes, Thank you, Captain, said Miniator, 'And I will take special care over your ambassador.'
'So, said Narea, I would like to introduce you, Miniator, to the second newest recruit to your crew!' she tapped a device on her belt and said, 'Nimi!'
A voice replied in Mearian, 'Yes Narea?'
'Please come to to the Captain's quarters.'
A few moments later the doors slide apart, and Nimi, entered. To Miniator's and Swing's astonishment what they saw was what looked like the twin of Narea... Swing gasped, he could not believe she could be a robot! He had been astounded also by those metal clad robots on the Hool, but this was a woman! As far as he could see... he continued to look from one to the other, only the clothes were different. Narea was in blue and Nimi was in red.
Nimi said, Hello to the Captain, and the Number Two in Mearian. Then Nerea, introduced her to Miniator and Swing, telling her who they were, and where they came from, and adding, 'We are speaking English.'
Nimi said 'Hello Captain Miniator, hello Swing,' in perfect English, without having to speak through her translator device.
'You see, Swing, she speaks English, along with many other languages, unlike myself. I hope you could teach me your language as part of my training.'
Narea then told Nimi about the change of circumstances. Miniator, asked about the details of Nimi's manufacture. Which Narea explained, Nimi had always been a work in progress … she was begun when Narea was a teenager, as a piece of soft ware, then when Narea had began building her first physical robot, Nimi became a part of it, but over the years she had been updated many, many times, and still receives updates.
'But she looks so real, like yourself, said Swing!'
'Well, she is real, said Narea, but I know what you mean. Her skin and face muscles took a long time to get right, but that was so important to my work, it means I can be in two places at once.'And yes, I also had to teach her how to tell lies!'
The next day The Hool left Earth, and the Time Zone. Miniator decided they should stay a little longer, he wanted to collect specimens, and film and photograph many other things of interest before leaving. They had also decided that when it was time to leave they would visit Earth in the present. So Narea, Swing, and Nimi should spend some time doing a lot of familiarisation with that time, because they, rather than Miniator, would be able to go among the earthlings unnoticed. So they would spend a lot of time watching films and interacting with the information held in the computers data banks. Nimi could be simply plugged into the computer at night, while the others slept. It was also important for Narea to learn at least English, and maybe one other Language...
So for the next month each had their tasks, and when they were not involved with these, they spent their time together discussing and comparing information. Miniator had discovered many new species which were not in the commuter's data bank, Swing would watch films collected from the last voyages by Toolians to Earth in the Nineteen Fifties and Sixties. Many of the films had been taken from television broadcasts. He watched all kinds of things: documentaries, drama, comedies, and news reports. And he listened to music from their radio, and read books. Narea, with her photographic memory had no trouble with the languages. So her and Swing would often watch things together and talk a lot. Nimi often went out with Miniator searching for his specimens.
But once they had decided to soon leave the Time Zone to return to the present, they began looking at maps... For possible landing places, where they would not be easily detected. They decided that with their slightly outdated maps the best place would be the Amazon Rain Forest to look first. They could then spend a little more time tuning into the present day media, and updating maps and other data. Miniator was excited to know how the environment must have changed. So he would be happy to spend time collecting more specimens.
So the day came, the Dino took off and moved to the South of the planet, before shifting to the present Time of 2015.
