Miniator awoke from his long sleep to light music... he lay on the bed inside the glass tube. He remembered he was on the spaceship. He couldn't believe he had slept for ten years... it really did feel like it was only yesterday that he had taken off from Toolia.
Then the voice of the professor, which he remembered was the voice of the computer, came over the music.
'Are you awake, Captain?'
'Yes.'
'How do you feel?'
'Hungry!'
'Would you like to take a vapour bath before you eat or after?'
'Yes, a vapour bath would be great.'
'The vapour bath is the last room at the back of the ship, I could give you a progress update while you relax...'
'Yes, that sounds fine.'
Miniator found the door to the vapour bath, which opened when he stood before it. He entered the steam filled room and laid himself on a bed... which lifted his body a few inches on a thrust of air.
'Are you comfortable, Captain?'
'Yes, thank you, Computer.'
'So, Captain, we are two Earth days away from the Planet Earth, one day behind schedule due to avoiding meteorite storms, asteroids belts, and two Koosian ships.'
'Were the pirates dangerous?'
'No, Captain, the Koosians have very inferior technology, but Professor Zok had programmed me to avoid any conflicts.'
'OK, carry on.'
'I have been loading my data banks with all the information about Earth from our library, the history of the Humans, ect. The Earth date of our arrival will be 2015.'
'Will they be aware of our arrival?'
'Professor Zok has advised me to make a discreet entry. We should keep our present size, with radar stealth, and land in the Bermuda Triangle as far from land as possible to avoid visual detection, then immediately shift-change to submarine mode. You should decide which Earth Time you want to explore before heading for land...'
'Yes, which time to explore... that is the question...'
'Would you like to visit the dinosaur period?'
'No, not yet, I would like to know a lot more about that period before going there.
When did the Humans begin to develop their technology?'
'Around the Seventeen or Eighteen Century... '
'What was their system like then?'
'They had many different competing, countries and empires, with powerful leaders, called kings and queens. They were beginning to do basic science .. and were in the process of discovering their own planet, they still had wooden ships.'
'That sounds like a really interesting time to begin!'
'Which date should we set?'
'Let's say... 1700.'
'Yes, Captain. Shall I continue with the report?'
'Yes.'
'I have reprogrammed your suit with the new Larynx Voice, which has the translation ability for all the known Human languages. And it's new features, will also give you the ability to anticipate someone's intention, and what they will say a few milliseconds before they speak, but it would be polite in most cases to wait until they speak, before responding... unless their intentions are negative actions towards you. Then you should simply respond with the command: 'Bubble', which will instantly produce a transparent protective bubble around you. If the danger persists you can simply order me to respond and retrieve you from the situation. You will be able to receive their brain patterns in the radius of fifty yards around you.
Miniator, thought about his first meeting with humans... how will it be? What would their reaction be towards him...? He thought about how the Toolians had reacted to him... because he was so small, they at first didn't seem to take him serious... They wanted to pet him, which he didn't like... it had changed when the Professor had given him his voice, and his jet-pack, which allowed him to look in their faces at their level, and talk to them.'
'How big are Humans compared to me?'
'You are from the Tyrannosaurus Rex species' around four meters tall, which is double the size of a tall Human.'
'So they could find me frightening?'
'Yes, but that can easily be resolved with the Shrink Device, which you have seen in action with the ship, it would be quite simple for me to adapt that to your suit, and reduce your size to say an average Human?'
'Yes please.'
'So, Captain what would you like to eat?'
Miniator thought about this... 'What kind of things do Humans eat?'
'Well I have many Human recipes in my data bank...'
'What is a very popular one?'
'Pizza, but there are many kinds...'
'Then you chose one for me.'
'Italian Lazio style: tomato, mozzarella, anchovies, oregano, oil ?'
'Fine,' what ever that is, thought Miniator.
