Sacrifice –
It should start with
A piano
Quiet somber notes
To pull at your heart
Then time goes by so fast
& it’s been months since
I saw you last
And while time has passed
I’ve been bargaining
With the gods
I’ve made promises
While you’ve been gone
No more late nights
Together
No more human touch
No more gazing into
Your golden eyes
Instead I stare at the sun
& hope to go blind
I told them I understand now
Sacrifice is what they crave
So I will give up on Love
No more holding you
In the gale of the world
We will both be swept away
Never to fall again
It should end with cymbals and drums
With the sound of rain
& thunder
As the god themselves weep
Over the strength
Of my sacrifice.

Hi cormacru,
It's amazing how the way we feel comes out in our
poems, but you have so much to offer and I think
your work is perrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrfect!.
You are really gifted...as in this poem.
Jenny.

This is absolutely heartbreaking and stunning at the same time. Such an effective opening and I loved this section:
"Your golden eyes
Instead I stare at the sun
& hope to go blind"
You're very gifted.
