They stand outside, they don't let go.
One last embrace is all he asked for but now neither wants to go.
I love you, she finally cries.
The words sting and bring him to tears as he declares his love.
It'll be okay she says, but he knows this is the only lie she will tell.
He doesn't let go.
He loves her, he won't let go.
She loves him, but has decided to leave, she still won't let go.
"Promise me you'll be okay without me, promise me you'll learn to be okay without me. And promise me you won't do anything stupid,"she pleads
He laughs. It is her he is worried about, he tells her.
She laughs
She pleads again for the promises.
He tells her but does not promise.
They don't let go of their embrace
They cry.
"Its not the end," she says "I don't know what will happen, but this may not be the end."
He cries harder and pleads with her for a second chance in the future.
She will not promise
Several moments pass and he kisses her, not on the mouth, not on cheek, on her head.
He gives her the last thing he can, he gives her his blessing.
She does not understand, she only cries.
She pulls away
He tries to keep her
She loves him but he does not understand how
He loves her but she does not understand why
Before the embrace is over he takes all he can.
He tries to remember her warmth, he tries to remember her scent.
And when he finally heard her plead for him to leave he let go.
I have nothing left to give he says
He leaves a shell of the man he was.
