In my life there have been many tears
Borne of deep hurt through the years
Times I should have walked away
Times I did\, but should\'ve stayed
But even through those darkest days
Of ruined love and easy lays
I prayed someone would save my soul

Not long ago I met that one
An angel who brought a ray of sun

Of love and lies and feelings slain
Who reached to me with open heart

To trust again and hide no more

And feelings\, hidden\, began to share
And though I knew it may mean the end
I fell in love with you\, my friend
And though I know there\'s no romance
Sometimes I feel you want to take that chance
But it\'s hard for you after all your pain
To take the risk and start again
What if I hurt you and let you down
Would it feel like you were about to drown
Please believe\, I know that fear
I guess it never really disappears
I can\'t promise you there\'ll be no pain
And that tears won\'t fall now and again
But I know that having lost you once
I don\'t want to lose a perfect chance
To feel your love\, and love in return
