I wandered passed a lady today,
She was weak and old, crying and grey.
Sitting on some seating in a shopping mall,
the kind that makes your arse freeze and you feel a pee come on.
I watched her as she tried to eat a bit of sausage roll.
Her hand and face were shaky so it fell onto her coat.
Her eyes filled up with shame and tears, l asked if l could help, poor dear.
To sit alone late in the day, with all that shopping to take away
I wish someone would realise, that these old people had vibrant lives
Now struggle with illness, alone and sad
A tiny woman, with a shaky hand ..

Well observed and very thoughtful, denni. We like to box them up, label them "Elderly" and ship them off for "Care" somewhere out of sight. What a society. so busy with high-minded causes and so blind to this lady. Steps off soap-box.

This is a brilliant poem, pal. It's so simply put but it really gets the point across. I felt really upset after reading it. It's so sad to think of these people on their own. I hope she got home ok xx
