In Answer to the Question “Tell Me What Love Is?”
Love walks nearest the traffic to protect
Love treats you always with respect
Love shares an umbrella in the rain
Love is never oblivious to your pain
Love is the steadying arm when you stumble
Love listens intently when you mumble
Love lets you walk at your own slow pace
Love puts a smile upon your face
Love makes a joke but not at your expense
Love stands ready to spring to your defence
Love lets you blossom and grow
Love never tries to overthrow
Love cooks a meal when tiredness overcomes
Love may feel anger but never succumbs
Love hangs out washing with good humour
Love never listens to gossip or cruel rumour
Love mends a favourite pair of shoes
Love listens patiently to all your news
Love lets you always have your say
Love is constantly there, prepared to stay
Love allows you to make mistakes
Love tells you to do it when fear overtakes
Love is there to calm your fears
Love is the proffered cloth to dry your tears
Love gives freely of its time
Love never tries to undermine
Love comforts when comfort is needed
Love knows good advice will more often go unheeded
Love is there when nightmares shatter your tranquillity
Love holds you close as it recognizes your fragility
Love is there when darkness awakens your fears
Love is there when morning comes and the bright sun appears
So to answer the question Tell Me What Love Is?
From experience my answer can only be this
Love may be commonplace, devotion so much rarer
Love is my husband but he is also my Carer!
