Housework!

Housework!
I hate all that dusting and polishing
That I’m supposed to do now I am wed
When most of the time I am relishing
The thought of sitting up reading in bed.
At weekends I like to have a good time
So tonight I’m off out with my mate
Though he looks at me as if it’s a crime
It’s my guess he thinks I’m out on a date?
He ticked me off two times the other day
His suit or was it his shoes not polished?
The look on his face was one of dismay
But I thought slavery had been abolished.
Well, here’s another bite size disappointment
I’ve done no washing or ironing this week.
Will that be another wasp in the ointment
And give him a good reason not to speak?
Now he wants me to sweep and dust the place
So I must clean and leave nothing to chance.
His smile congealed on his miserable face
When I said I’d swept the room with a glance!
