A Life with Brian!
So we have Leigh our beautiful great niece
Who is off to foreign climes to get wed
Yes, she’s travelling to an island off Greece
According to this invitation I’ve read
What an unexpected, lovely surprise
For us to get invited to share
An evening to celebrate…how nice
And you can be sure we will be there
Leigh and her sister are both such fine girls
They deserve Brian and Rob two fine men
These are girls hewed from diamonds and pearls
I’ve said it once but think it’s worth saying again
Is Joanne making a sweet confection?
Her cakes remarkable but so is the bride
So no looking at the cake with affection
When all eyes are looking at Leigh with pride
But veil and headdress could look a delight
If Leigh would just wear a big cake on her head
Then she wouldn’t be just a vision in white
She’d be beautiful, scrummy and edible instead.
And no, it’s not a slice of cake that I’m after
Though if there should be a slice going to waste
It would be well remembered in the hereafter
If my angling for it is not too misplaced
Okay it is a slice of cake I want
Well, I don’t like to see it go to waste
I’m doing my best to look nonchalant
Whilst doing my utmost to get a taste
If leaping over chairs causes laughter
Well, I’m in a hurry to get there first
Because cake like Joanne’s is sought after
Just thinking about it gives me a thirst!
I’m prepared to risk landing in the cake
Even though it might not be a good look
Head-first in a big cake for heaven’s sake
To get out might require a grappling hook
No, it’s a liberty I know I can’t take
A cake and a fuss are two things I can’t make!
