Love Lost – Love Regained!
A heart that loved was all I asked for,
But it was not enough you wanted more.
You threw open your heart and let me in,
But fiery passions still slept deep within.
You said a love like ours was hard to find,
And jealousy like mine was just a state of mind.
So I spring cleaned my heart of all the pain,
In the hope this would please you once again.
But still you planned to make a fresh start,
Though you knew I hated us being apart.
I had a feeling that one day you might leave,
So I tried removing my heart from my sleeve.
Still I pleaded guilty what more can I say,
You cheated on me so you had to pay.
But the judge didn’t like the look of me,
So threw the book despite my guilty plea.
I will serve my time as I know I must,
But afraid this new love will turn to dust.
Although I am now full of repentance,
It will make no difference to my sentence.
To kill a cheating lover is a crime,
And I know I will have to serve my time.
Even though I am now full of remorse,
The fact remains; the cheat is now a corpse.
My faith in love you set out to restore,
And it is true I love once more.
Your heart opened to let me in,
But fiery passion still lies within.
A loving heart leaves no room for hate,
Anything less would be to desecrate
What we have even though still new.
Imprisoned though I am, please, be true.
Who would love me in the way you do,
Making it easy for me to love you too!
But if your intention is to toss aside,
My love that flows freely from deep inside,
Then you will be lost to me forever,
Please, you must not say it, no, not ever!

A nice story that flows along
A nice story that flows along well. I liked the verse near the end that starts 'A loving heart...'. The rhythm and rhymes here are excellent. Really good poem Moya, and well done on mastering the single spacing. I will give your method as described in the Forum a try soon!

I found this a strange but
I found this a strange but compelling read. Think it was the subject woking against the rhyme that made it different - (in a good way), and I liked the way you've explored the possibilities.
Enjoyed.

A poingnant poem from you
A poingnant poem from you Moya. I can tell you worked hard on this one and it shows. Not an easy subject to tackle, but you managed to convey the feelings well and very poetically. Jenny.

You really gave this one all
You really gave this one all you've got, Moya, and it sure paid off. Hats off to you, and that single line spacing sure is enviable.
More than well done, and I really did enjoy reading it.

Hullo, Moya, I hope your
Hullo, Moya, I hope your night was reasonable in the end.
I have been back to this a couple of times to see around the first catastophic 'love' and the second hopeful, tentative love. You certainly bring out the danger again of playing around with people's emotions and tossing away committment in unfaithfulness. 'A loving heart leaves no room for hate', but love hurt can turn to hate, I guess.
Thought-provoking.

Hello Moya,
Hello Moya,
thought it was about time I came across your page again and quite frankly I'm glad I did.
This is a brillant read, if not a true story it sounds you've written it with true passion and I like it very much!
thanks for the great poem, Kate.
