I took a little trip
to my old hometown
I was kind of disappointed
in what I found
An ocean of cars
filled the streets
people everywhere
not one to greet
I drove by
the old homeplace
it was all run down
what a disgrace
Mother's roses
were not to be seen
the place needed paint
and new window screens
Old friends homes
I could not find
they had disappeared
one at a time
I was feeling sad
as I drove away
my old hometown
was in another day.

Poignant writing.
Poignant writing. Especially like the closing section, it took me to the place.
