February Rainbow

snow cloud's blue, bomb ominous, blooms
through beech trees' fragile dark raised bars
that seek to cage west's brutal storms
rampaging from unbroken fars
while within, woods' green shines at peace
as jade lichens by scaling grace
enrich with incremental ease
and acid-bright moss scours space
then luminous silence tips, full
of stipply falling feathered ice
as swiftly stops, and in the lull
leaps light's unbound wonder : iris

Great words to depict a
Great words to depict a forest scene on a cold February day.
I really liked
full of stipply falling feathered ice
which is such a good way to describe snowflakes.
Nice one Di!

Some lovely references to the
Some lovely references to the protection of the trees from the 'wild west' storms. and the acid-green moss and jade lichens in the lush peace within, I take it that there was a lovely rainbow in the pause of snow. Must have been quite a sight to capture. We had a rainbow yesterday but no snow.
I was a bit lost about the meaninng of 'Iris' until I googled and found its mythological significance. I'm grateful for the scripture where God says that the rainbow is his sign that he will not send/allow another world-wide flood. Rhiannon

Wandering through your poem,
Wandering through your poem, you touched my senses, I felt like I was experiencing an adventure, especially in those lines:-
then luminous silence tips, full
of stipply falling feathered ice
as swiftly stops, and in the lull
light's unbound wonder leaps: iris
I too had no idea what you meant about iris, untill I read Rhiannon's comment.
In that first stanza you managed to capture the wildness, then you go on to the calm of the woods. Treasure of a poem indeed Di..

This is astonishingly lovely Di - such rich imagery. I've come straight from reading onemore's beautiful piece on the promise of spring, so now I'm looking forward to it twice over!

This is beautiful Di_Hard.
This is beautiful Di_Hard. The drama of these stormy February days together with quieter aspects of nature hiding in the woods, 'jade lichen, acid bright moss'. Somehow you've captured the time of year perfectly. Wonderful poem, loved reading it and the images created from your words.

“I am Iris
“I am Iris, Goddess of the Rainbow, the Sea and the Sky, and a Messenger to the Gods.”
Also as per Jenny's comment contribution, in Greek mythology she is the beautiful goddess of the rainbow and the messenger of Zeus and Hera. Commonly represented as having wings she could travel at great speed on her rainbow.
Sorry to say I was disappointed in the poem it seems to have very little to do with rainbows. But one must be very careful what you say here they just cut you off and chuck you into the cooler box as such. If you don't cooperate then they kick you out, just ban you for good. Seen it. Scary. Could well even be you don't even understand, why?
Safest is to just stick with meaningless and senseless comments and stories.
Cheers! Tom Brown

Sorry Di I honestly did not mean
Sorry Di I honestly did not mean to criticise your work at all and I don't recall that I ever have. It is a great poem. But please keep in mind any good teacher knows one often learns more from your mistakes and by the way I'm also out of a job. Most of my comment was clearly not aimed at you and rather Abctales and daring, I might add. But can you blame them?
The criticism was definitely not aimed at you in fact I always find your poems refreshing and informative and very original. I understand exactly how you feel about writing. I think everybody should write it's highly therapeutic there is a place for anyone.
Look I'm sorry it is simply misunderstanding and I will keep reading your work but will be more careful in future, please read some of my work too!
Keep well! Tom
PS. In fact I am a person with a disability I was very badly treated by the university you know that kind of thing walking behind the deaf guy making remarks and jokes or a blind person pulling the chair from under him etc. Even now 15 years later I have not received compensation. Not one cent. And I can assure you my work was always of the highest standards. I became used to outperforming people on their own terms, own turf and rules they don't like that.
