Blueberry Mermaid

As you'd expect with folklore
Blueberry sat on a rock
humming sea songs to the moon
tapping her starlit frock,
unsure of what I was doing
I swam out anyway
blue eyes shone amusement at
my water inferior delay.
Exhausted I climbed up beside
the smiling and vibrant mystique
who snapped a strand out from her head
to put in my palm to keep,
refusing her kindly gesture
' but why are you giving me this?'
' Because you have forgotten, friend,
when we were little fish '.
An effortless glide back to the shore
the moon and stars in a whirl
the world appeared as giddy as I
with my string of Blueberry pearls.
