CATS ?
Mary Jane Harden, that's the widow next door
Hasn't just one cat she's at least twenty-four
She says they keep down the rats and the mice
But they're totally useless keeping down lice
You can see them all scratching out in the garden
Her cats and their kittens plus Widow Harden
Each night they give out such squeals and such howls
Like a pack of banshee with barbed wire bowels
They snap and they snarl which is definitely frightening
No more kittens please! I pray they're just fighting
All of the neighbourhood protest and complain
About our near by resident cat-woman Mary Jane
When the old girl's moggies visit my yard
They invariably leave at least one calling card
Sometimes there's two or three, maybe a score
Once in a while, if I'm unlucky, I get twenty-four
Mary Jane cherishes her pets
Oh how I wish her and her anagram of pest
Would go and get sterilised down at the vets.
