Expectant Mothers

Expecting your first child is such a joyful and exciting gift. You have a new life growing inside of you. A new life that you feed and take care of for the 9 months that it is growing inside of your stomach.
The few months of this new gift can be kept a secret from all those around you. You can wear your normal sized clothes. You can move around and generally do everyday things that you would normally do.
Then days and weeks down the line the baby grows more, extending your stomach. First it comes that you cannot wear your normal sized clothes. You need to go a size or two up if you wish to hide your bump. Not to hide your bump from those around you but to look decent and dignified by not wearing clothes that are too small that they do not sit comfortably over your growing bump.
Then it comes…the months when you feel tired from carrying out everyday normal tasks. It takes you longer to get dressed, to walk down the road and all because of your baby growing inside of you.
Because of lack of space in your stomach you cannot eat your usual in take of food in one sitting. You have to spread your dining throughout the day.
But the worst is yet to come. Getting closer to your delivery day you find that you are not able to even sit down properly. You are not able to travel long distances by car, as the sitting position is too uncomfortable. You have to go to the toilet more often than normal and sleep…what is that? That is an alien term to expectant mothers, as they cannot sleep the whole night because of the discomfort and your baby performing acrobatics inside of you.
The day of the delivery is here. The contractions…oh how painful…every so often, getting closer and closer together. And when the time has come to deliver you are engulfed with the misery and pain of having to push your baby out of your tiny hole. How is that possible? To get a living being out of your stomach through such a small compact space…impossible and painful, but that is the only natural way it should be done.
But after all those months of you carrying your baby, growing inside of you, being natured inside of you. You push for dear life and your baby comes into the world.
You forget the pain you have just gone through and the joy spreads through you and your husband when you first set eyes on your baby.
